Meet Malachi

Born at 23 weeks
Due to Extreme Prematurity, Malachi suffered a grade 4 Intraventricular Hemmorage, ROP, open PDA, surgical intervention for VP Shunt, and BPD.
He weighed 1 lb 7 oz at birth.
Doctors gave my parents little to no hope that I would survive; but I am MORE than surviving, I am a happy baby that is LOVED so much.
Our Story:
I gave birth to twin boys at 23 weeks (YES, you read that right)-Michael Scott Austin and Malachi Stone Austin. Michael passed away unexpectantly after spending 3 hard weeks fighting for life. However, my Miracle boy Malachi is ALIVE, and thriving. He has dealt with his share of “micro preemie” problems, but God is sustaining him, and has brought him a mighty long way. I hope this Blog will INSPIRE you, encourage you to be a better person, and challenge you in your walk with Christ. My Malachi spent over 4 long months in the hospital, and still has a long road ahead of him; but, I would love to be a source of support for other preemie moms, and for those mothers that have lost a child; for we know a pain that runs deep. I hope that through this blog I can share my story and keep you updated on Malachi’s progress. Be ready to be amazed…Malachi is pretty Awesome!
About My husband and I:

I am a Registered Nurse that works in women’s and children’s health. I am passionate about photography, writing, cooking; but most importantly my Family and living for Christ. Jesus is my first love, and has been my source of strength during the deep dark struggles in my life. I have been happily married for 3 years to my husband Jake, who is a Purchasing Analysis, and the BEST father to our sweet boy Malachi. Together we have overcome the loss of a child and raising a micropreemie with special and challenging needs. We have grown deeper in our love for our Savior Jesus Christ and each other through these trials. Most days are extremely difficult, but we are striving to be a source of light in this midst of this fallen world.
Allison – my aunt who lives outside of Greenville shared your story with me (she cut out & brought your article to town on a visit over the weekend). I just wanted to “stop by” and let you know that my heart goes out to you. I am a proud NICU mama to my son, Nicholas, who was born at 28 weeks while my husband and I were on a short vacation in SW Florida (we reside in Summerfield, NC). You can read about our story at lovenotesfornicholas.wordpress.com
Being a NICU mama is something you can only understand once you have been there, sat by those incubators, held your child when they were constrained by tubes & wires, learned more than you ever cared to about de-sats & bradys, & rested your weary soul with GOD in a way you never imagined you every could.
You & your family will be a part of our prayers. ~Jaclyn
